Malakai Imani ( they / them ) is a queer black non-binary, writer, director, and truth seeker

Their approach to making films is investigative, character driven, and emotionally charged. They don’t hold back as their films often confront uncomfortable truths about human nature and themself.

In their work, they focus on empowering BIPOC and LGBTQ+ stories and voices by deconstructing our stereotypical relationships to gender, sexuality, race, religion, and politics.

Their mission is to inspire people to empathize with other, understand social issues, and envision new liberated worlds / futures to thrive in.
